OUR STORY

How Yamaken Began

In 1957, our founder swapped the worn wooden cutting tables of a local sewing trade for a sturdier plastic alternative — the first of its kind in Japan. His wife's patented laminated design made the boards last even longer, and together they built the business one fish market at a time, selling by hand before dawn. That same drive for better materials still shapes every board we make today.
